Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy is an age-old treatment while the popularity of cupping has significantly increased in the past recent years, it isn’t a new practice. In fact, it was originally used by the ancient Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures. Cupping has found its way into modern rehab due to its unique healing capabilities. Using special cups that create suction on the skin, this therapy aids in improving blood flow, reducing pain, and promoting relaxation.
How Cupping Therapy Works:
The suction within the cups creates negative pressure which helps to increase hydration and blood flow to body tissues, stimulating muscle recovery, freeing up adhesions, and eliminating excess fluids.
vacuum cupping:
Vacuum cupping therapy involves the use of vacuum suction with cupping. Vacuum therapy increases local blood supply to the muscles and skin. Conditions of chronic and acute pain can be relieved with minimal discomfort and tense muscles softened quickly and easily. Vacuum Cupping is a wonderfully effective way to release restrictions in fascia and scar tissue by lifting and stretching soft tissue (muscle, fascia/connective, attachments). It is commonly used to treat post-surgical scars such as C-section scars.
Vacuum Cupping therapy is also used for Lymphatic drainage.
Vacuum cupping helps to move stagnation, relieve inflammation, and drain/move fluids.
The action on the nervous system is sedating and people often fall into a deep state of relaxation. On a deeper therapeutic level, this nervous system sedation is beneficial for those with anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, etc. The sensation is truly beyond description! People have often reported a deep warmth and tingling sensation long after the treatment has ended.
Wet Cupping Therapy (Hijama):
Wet cupping is a specialized form of cupping therapy. In this method, after placing special cups on the skin to create suction, the area is first sanitized. Following this, tiny scratches are made in the skin. This technique is considered one of the most effective ways to detoxify in many instances.
dry (stationary) cupping:
In this treatment, cups are placed on different areas of the body and kept in place with suction for a period of time, usually 10 minutes.
